We've been bargaining for nearly six months. Despite months of negotiations and a good-faith attempt at mediation, the City has failed to offer a fair agreement that your Bargaining Team could recommend for ratification by our membership.
The City's Last, Best, and Final Offer falls far short of what San José workers deserve. We need wages that keep pace with the cost of living in one of the most expensive regions in the world, pensionable compensation that strengthens retirement security, AI protections that preserve jobs and prevent increased workloads, and meaningful investments to rebuild our workforce. Strike Authorization Vote
The City will only move if it believes workers are prepared to act together. That's why IFPTE Local 21 and MEF-AFSCME Local 101 are holding a strike authorization vote in-person from August 11–14. Your bargaining team unanimously recommends a YES vote.
A YES vote:
Authorizes your bargaining teams to call a strike if the City fails to negotiate fair contracts.
Sends a clear message that we will not accept worsening public services.
Gives the City time to avert a strike.

Final Strike School Date Added: Session 3
This week, we held two Strike School sessions where members learned about their right to strike, what to expect on the picket line, and why a strike may be necessary. If you weren't able to attend, we'll hold a third and final Strike School on Wednesday, August 5, from 12:00-1:00pm via Zoom. Click here to register.
