Our Local, Municipal Employees’ Federation (MEF)-AFSCME 101 have reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) with the City of San Jose that secures the following:
Movement on converting non-pensionable pay back to pensionable
Either an automatic conversion if pension funding reaches 80% and employer contribution does not exceed $252M, OR reopener if only one condition is met
Artificial Intelligence (AI) protections, preserving meet and confer, regulating human oversight, and further ongoing communications
One percent lump sum payment, effectively covering lost pay since July 1st
General wage increase: 3, 3, 4*
Year 1 – 3% wage increase, effective September 27th.
Year 2 – 3% wage increase
Year 3 – 3% wage increase, plus up to additional 1% wage increase based on budget surplus
Salary steps and disciplinary rights for the 18th floor
Regulation over use of volunteers in the library
Fatigue pay for certain classifications
New policy on qualified promotions
Our PERB charge regarding remote work is scheduled for later this year. We will keep you informed.
